This is the first part of a series where I will be teaching

you some of my favorite keyword research growth hacks. These tactics have helped me build

my Google search traffic to over 5 million monthly visitors. One of the biggest mistakes

bloggers make when using a keyword research tool

is to use single phrase keyword volume when finding potential keywords to write about. Unfortunately,

this is the main metric that every keyword tool displays right next to each keyword. Since they never give you any disclaimers, the majority of bloggers believe that this number is important.

Keyword volume for a single search phrase by itself is really only useful in regards to Google ads.

For bloggers, you want to be looking at the total potential traffic you will get from Google,

from all the LSI and variations you would also rank for when making it to the first page

for that specific phrase.

Let me walk you through an example so that you can understand what the monthly volume

metric for a single phrase means to you and why you don't want to make decisions based upon

The monthly search volume is 150.

This means that on average, every month,

there are 150 people that type in that exact keyword phrase into Google search.

This does not mean that your blog is going to get 150 monthly visitors if you rank number one for this keyword phrase.
