about the cyclones coming into this year.

0:38.9

I want to go back to last year before we get into your squad this year.

0:41.9

As you look back, assess last season, really talented team, a lot of good wrestlers,

0:47.9

and then you look at the results at the NCAA tournament.

0:50.6

How did you, what were your conclusions out of that?

0:58.2

You definitely reflect, yeah, so you go back a year and you win the big 12s and you get a trophy and you get fourth. So you think you, you know, not that you've got to

1:04.3

figure it out because we know how hard this is, but you duplicate everything. I mean, we duplicated our everything from wrestle-offs all the way to the postseason and how we prepared for the Big 12 and everything.

1:17.6

The schedule was almost identical.

1:20.6

You know, the weight lifts, the runs, everything.

1:23.6

And just it was one of those years that we couldn't get out of our own way in terms of injuries.

1:28.3

I mean, I've been doing this a while and have not had a year where we've had that many injuries. One year at Virginia Tech, years and years ago, we had, you know, Devin Carter and a couple guys got knocked out, but nothing of the magnitude that we had this year. So what do you do? Do you look at it as bad luck? Sure, you want to evaluate and say, what could I do?

1:25.9

I mean, we had some crazy injuries.

is that anything you can really

change? You know, it's hard to evaluate. If you were to go down and break Connor Uton

is beating Caliando in the Duelmeat and tears his ACL, you know, what do you attribute that to?

2:13.3

It's hard to figure out. Going forward, you just wish you out, you just sure hope and pray that you have a little better luck this year because, you know, on paper we've got a really, really good team, but you got to get it from paper to the mat. We weren't able to do that last year. Yeah. And kind of looking at your lineup, there's a lot of talent. There's a lot of flexibility in where you could go. It feels like 25 is pretty well set with the addition of Steve O'Poole. Someone been in conference, probably watched him a lot over the years. What does Steveau bring to the lineup? I really like his energy. He's been training with us most of the summer. And the dude really likes wrestling. He's competitive. That's kind of an interesting thing when you get these old guys that are portal guys and you don't get them until the end of their career, kind of learning their personalities and what made him good because, you know, he's an All-American already. You know, the weight doesn't look difficult for him to make. He kind of hangs around that weight. So I'm excited. I know he's really excited to be in Ames right now. So, you know, I think the guy's a competitor. I mean, he's got it done. Yeah. And then you've got, you know, the maybe the question mark area of the lineup. You've got the Frost twins and Anthony and maybe even Pinero. How do you see that dynamic of those four? Well, we got to sort all that out. Obviously, Evan Frost is, is going to make the push to 133.
