His name is Anatole Levin. He was on my Fox business show not long ago. He's written several books on Russia and its neighbors, including the Baltic Revolution's, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and the path to independence, and a book called Ukraine and Russia, a fraternal rivalry.

So we had an interesting discussion the other night. And obviously,

I imagine that you are not getting a lot of sleep right now because you're probably keeping an

eye on everything that's happening because this is your area of expertise. And I'm sure there are a lot

of people leaning on you right now. Ain't that the truth. So tell me, let's go back to your book, Ukraine and Russia, A Fraternal Rivalry.

How long has this been simmering and what should we know about their relationship in order

to make sense of what's happening?

Well, they are closely related people, historically speaking.

You know, as has often been said, the Russian state originated in Kiev, which is now

the capital of Ukraine.

But like many people, historically, they grew apart.

Ukraine fell under the rule of the Lithuanians and Poles in the Middle Ages.

And then Ukraine was conquered by Russia, now with its capital in Moscow, and turned into a

province of Russia, which, of course, many Ukrainians always resented. And then Western Ukraine remained part of Poland for a long time.
