A Christmas story is one of my favorite holiday movies. My son and I have seen it so many times that we can quote the lines before they are said.

Set in 1940, the movie follows 9-year-old Ralphie, a boy with the simple or not so simple wish for a red rider car buying action 200-shot range model air rifle.

No matter who he asks or how he asks it, guess request for the gun is denied. Often with the phrase, you'll shoot your eye out.

Adults are not the only ones getting in Ralphie's way. The town bully Scott Farkis terrorizes Ralphie and all the children in the neighborhood.

Scott chases them, beats them and torments anybody who crosses his path. But after an already horrible day, Ralphie is confronted by Scott on his way home.

As Scott taunts him, we watch as Ralphie goes from being petrified to furious.

As tears pour down his face, we see the rage build until he explodes, tackling the bully and hitting him repeatedly with all his might.

The narrator, an adult Ralphie says, something had happened, a few is blue, and I had gone out of my skull. Told you that I knew the lines.

This was the bully terrorizing the bullier, a popular fantasy for those of us who have suffered this treatment in the past.

Ralphie finally had enough. He was done taking the abuse.

I bring this up because we are talking about another bully. Except this story is not a lighthearted Christmas tale.

It is a dark story about an even darker man that persecuted an entire town. And that town finally had enough.
