Quick one. My team tells me we actually have very few reviews relative to the weekly audience

0:07.4

numbers. This is no doubt my fault, as I've always felt a little weird about asking you

0:12.2

to do something for me. But clearly, if you don't ask, you don't get. So if you're enjoying

0:17.6

the show, if it's providing you value, please take 30 seconds and leave a review on Apple

0:22.6

or Spotify. In doing so, you'll help the show rank higher, which means we can continue

0:27.5

to attract the brightest and most trustworthy people in science. My team and I have big plans

0:32.6

for the show where we want to be in 24 months and we need your help to make this possible.

The Brain Infrastructure 87 Billion Neurons. Trillions and trillions of connections. This

0:47.1

is the infrastructure that you're creating after the age of 21. Cognitive capacity is the

0:51.2

connectivity of the neurons. The infrastructure, imagine a building, a huge building, that's

0:56.1

held up by billions of pillars. So if a few of them are knocked down, nobody sees any

1:02.7

difference from outside. Which means cognition hasn't necessarily changed in a way that

1:06.9

would be observable. The building is functioning, nobody sees any

1:10.8

different, but the pillars are being knocked down one at a time and in your 20s, I want this

1:15.8

to be emphasized because it's very difficult for us to emphasize brain health to younger

1:20.9

people. And those pillars are foundational, we're knocking them down or building them in

1:28.7

our 20s. So everything you eat, your exercise, everything determines those pillars. So the

1:34.6

pillars are knocked down, knocked down, knocked down and then in your 60s, now there are

1:39.4

enough pillars knocked down where you start seeing the wavering.
