What made Jesus so unique in his day?

And what makes him so unique in our day?

Well, I'm thinking back to the context of Jesus' arrival on the earth. In that day, ego was king.

Like it was considered a virtue to be posturing and prideful. Yet Jesus arrived on the scene in the most humble of ways.

And he journeyed through life, journeyed through life

with profound humility. And in a day when people vied for attention and position, Jesus often

slipped away after performing a life-altering miracle. In a day when the Jewish people longed to be

free from Rome's oppression, Jesus didn't come to overthrow Rome. He came to cast a

greater vision for their lives. He disappointed some, and he surprised others. The religious

leaders were so stuck in their ideas of what the Messiah would be like. They missed him when he

came. Well, similarly, today, people are so stuck in what they think Jesus should be
