You know when it's over and I knew that it was over. I think that there was this

idea that you build something and it is permanent and nothing is permanent. There's

no scenario that that's not gonna bring heartbreak. There's this idea of like

what is San Francisco? Who is San Francisco? I was moving to LA at the same time

that blunted the kind of emotional pain. John's the kind of person that like

when the universe reveals something. He just trusts that. Everything ends and

thank God things end because if they didn't end then nothing would ever have

any meaning at all. In a lot of ways like the rock world, the indie rock world

it's like it's like this dinosaur. Like a true death would have been the

studio becoming a museum piece. I wasn't gonna move any tape decks down here and

I was gonna learn how to record you know digitally and really just kind of

smash all these like systems that I had in place. Some of the weirder riskier

least rational decisions that I made were the most interesting. I do think that

studios are viable in the future only because they're expressions of like

insanity. John's in a quite a metamorphosis right now of discovering a new way

to make music, a new way to be a studio owner and a new way to be a person. And

then I thought my friend you are like really mentally ill right now. You want to

like jump off the Golden Gate Bridge so maybe you should like switch it up you

know. The world needs people like John Vander Slyce. I simply had a loopy plan and

I executed it with maniacal energy over 24 years and I kind of pulled it off

you know I mean it was like anarchy and it was a mess but you know we're

talking about it so something happened right.
