I love the expression of keeping an inner scorecard.

0:15.4

Have you heard of this expression?

0:17.1

Keep an inner scorecard.

0:19.5

I've heard it float around over the years, but I believe it's Warren

0:23.7

Buffett who first spoke about this. And for him, it's a life principle that he lives by.

1:38.4

We care about appearances, status matters, money, things like applause, accolades, praise. Look, I get it, there's nothing

1:45.9

wrong with those things. They can be fun and interesting and celebratory and certainly cool and

1:53.9

light. Why not? But the inner scorecard is what lasts. This is what we talk about in self-coaching society, about regret-proofing your life, doing it your way like Frank Sinatra used to sing. It's really about your integrity, your character, living by your own values, placing time, attention, and energy on what is

2:22.7

important to you, even if nobody's watching, even if it's not impressive by anybody else's

2:29.3

standards. And when you live with this inner scorecard, increasingly I find that this happens also
