Summary

On this Tuesday episode, Dylan sits down with Kate Chastain for a chaotic catch-up covering House of Villains, Below Deck nostalgia, and Traitors throwbacks. Kate breaks down the House of Villains cast dynamics, who surprised her most, and why certain people were trying way too hard to be “one of the boys.” They also get into life after Below Deck, why Kate feels she left at the perfect time, and how the format lets you break the fourth wall in a way most reality shows never do. She opens up about her unexpected bond with Tiffany “New York” Pollard, what it was like living in the house together, and why the whole experience felt like a vacation compared to the Below Deck grind. It's, it's, it's been a long time that we've been watching you on our screens now across different shows. And finally we get to chat. I know. And I'm so excited to talk about House of Villains because I was shocked how much fun it was. I know you were just telling me. It's one of your favorite shows you've ever done. It's such a different experience. Obviously, you've done lots of different types of shows and hosting and

0:44.2

opportunities and things like that. But it's, it's fun to have something that just feels completely new.

0:50.4

It's so new. And it's really fun to like lean into. You're allowed to be snarky and like, you know, it's celebrated. And that's always fun.

0:59.0

It's so funny because I was thinking about like of all the different things you've done, back when you were on below deck, I feel like the fourth wall was this thing where unless there was like a crazy circumstance, you really didn't, you didn't go there. It was pretty rigid. Traders is a little bit more like, oh, I'm a gamer. I'm a housewife. You know, we're talking about it a little bit. But House of Villains, it's like kind of the whole show is talking about what you've done on TV. It's breaking the fourth wall. It's looking right at the camera. It's so fun to not have those constraints and just really like, if you have an idea, they're like, let's try it. Yeah. It's fun. I love, I think it was like on the second episode or something when you were talking to Jackie in the bedroom and you were like, okay, well, if I keep talking to you and hear the camera's going to come. So like, do you want, do you do you want that or not? There are a lot of tricks

1:47.8

you learn. Like, I know I'm below deck. It made it on there a few times. Like I never wanted to be seen like eating on camera. So, but if I had to eat because I was hungry, I would look directly in the camera and eke, because I knew they wouldn't use that footage, but then sometimes they

1:59.8

wouldn't. I just like a weirdo. Well, it was like back in the, in the pre like Denise Richards, like,

2:04.7

bra. and Ekes, I knew they wouldn't use that footage, but then sometimes they wouldn't. I just like a weirdo.

2:01.4

Well, it was like back in the, in the pre like Denise Richards, like, Bravo, Bravo, fucking Bravo days. Like there were a lot more of those little subtle. Yeah. I'm going to, I'm going to just do this over in the corner. But actually, now that I'm seeing House of Villains, the episodes, I didn't realize how much fourth wall they were going to break because you kind of feel like you're safe.

2:20.0

Like, oh, they won't use this, but they're like, we will use it all. So it'll be really interesting to see all the moments that they include. Yeah. I'm curious for you, obviously doing this show, you guys filmed last year, Traders, you know, you did twice, but it's been a couple years and you've, you've done lots

2:35.2

of like little stuff in between. But like, what was it like kind of getting the call to do House of Villains being like, okay, do I want to, you know, travel for this? And, you know, you are our mother now. Like, there's a lot more in your life. Right. So when they called me to go back to traders my second time. my son was only three months old. And so that was a really big, like, leave the baby. He's so young. But it was healthy for me because it kind of reminded me who I was besides just being a mom. And so when I got the call about House of Villains and I found out it was now going to be on Peacock. It felt right and it kind of felt like a little vacation.

3:09.9

You know?

3:10.9

I was like, oh, baby's taken care of. I'm going to be by the pool and have fun. I feel like you're kind of like the queen of peacock, low key. Thank you so much. I love Peacock so much. It's, I mean, it's been a really good, like, platform, I think, to get to try different things and, you know, kind of have a little more fun with, like, the, the Bravo side of things and the way people come together from different shows. And yeah, it's, it's, it's fun to have House of Villains kind of, like, more under that umbrella now. Yeah, I think people who like traitors will also enjoy House of Villains. It's a similar idea

3:42.3

that it's all these big personalities from different shows that you know and love all competing.

3:46.8

But I think House of Villains are so much more fun. One is very serious. Traders obviously
