Welcome everyone to the beat. I'm Ari Melber. It is a big show tonight because it is officially starting.

Yes, I can tell you officially. The voting begins. If you're keeping count all the way to election day

technically there's still 46 days left which is a long time but voting begins

today in three states if this sounds extra early to you it's pretty early these are the

first states that allow for early voting but it's a reminder that what happened in the

debate stage what happened with Harris and Oprah what's happening this week is now

going to be locked in in certain places where

the election music plays and people vote.

We could show you the voters there in Virginia who are casting their ballots for president

already in person. The turnout is notable. The early voting also

begins in another important state of Minnesota, which we've heard more and more about on

the Democratic side, as well as South Dakota. So that is the first early voting around the

nation, the three states you saw there. There are 10 million registered voters in

those states so millions can cast their votes.

And today, in many ways, was centered on the issue

substantively, and the Harris campaign sees an edge

But it's one that in a close race could actually end up deciding this thing
