It's interesting the things that we write satirically, that we sort of really do invent in that room,

and then see them happening in real life.

It's a little like, yeah, we got it right.

But then it's also terrifying.

The Netflix series, Dear White People, follows a group of black students dealing with life at a fictional Ivy League school.

The show depicts situations that may seem over the top in today's world, like white students throwing a blackface party,

but writer-director Justin Simeon says it's all too real.

As season two streams on Netflix, Simeon tells us about being the subject of coordinated

attacks on social media and takes us through the unconventional journey that brought dear

white people to the screen, big and then small, in the first place. But first on the news, banter
