Summary

Fresh off a breakout season in 2018 and a stellar start to 2019, junior wide receiver Justin Jefferson joins the show (22:45) for an extended sit down.

Justin dives deep into being the third Jefferson brother to wear the purple and gold, growing up around the program, and breaking out as a sophomore after showing up late as a freshman – when half the team thought he was a walk on. He also discusses some of the outside-the-box approaches the wide receivers implemented this offseason to make sure they're catching more passes and dropping fewer.

Before that, I put a bow on the win over Georgia Southern with some deep statistical dives into the passing game, the offensive line, and a couple of surprising defensive standouts. We also sit down with LSU wide receivers coach Mickey Joseph (15:20) to break down the success of the passing game in week one, when 14 players caught passes.

When you showed up at LSU, did people think you were a walk-on when you first got here? Yeah, because I came, I came like the second day of fall camp. Okay. So I was like, didn't have any more lockers, so I had to go in like 118. So I was like, I mean, people knew me because I was, you know, Jordan, Ricky's your brother. Yeah. It was like, oh, yeah, you're a walk-on. Yeah. Stuff like, I'm not a walk on.

all wanted me to try to keep doing that. So I will. And I will also try to sound less tired

1:05.6

next time because apparently I sounded quite tired. A lot of the feedback was that I sounded a

little bit sleepy. And guess what? I sounded a little bit sleepy. And guess what?

1:11.7

I was a little bit sleepy. It was like 1245. But it was fun. It was fun to do. It was fun to get your

1:17.8

feedback. I enjoy making these. So we'll see how it goes this weekend on the road as LSU heads to

Austin to take on Texas. I will be on the team playing after the game.

1:29.4

So maybe playing podcast coming your way. I don't know. We'll see. It depends on who I'm sitting

1:39.1

back and I can get back up to my office and then it will be even later. But who cares? I can sleep in

on Sunday and

1:45.1

and get you the content that you need and the content that I have fun making so thanks for the

1:50.0

feedback on that I don't want to spend a ton of time today recapping Saturday's game other

1:54.8

than to dive a little bit deeper on a couple of spots that I overlooked on Saturday night.

2:02.4

And some of that I use Coach O audio.
