The Hello, and welcome back to True Consequences. I'm your host, Eric Carter-Londine. Today I'm going to be interviewing Amanda Kimbril Romero. Amanda's the mother of Colin Romero.

You may remember this case if you are from New Mexico. Colin and his friend Ahmed Latif were brutally

attacked and left to die in the West Mesa near Albuquerque. I reached out to Amanda because I wanted to get

her perspective on the issues of violent crime in New Mexico. Amanda agreed to an interview. We spent

some time talking a little bit about the case. You'll definitely hear some of that, but mostly what

we talked about were things that need to happen in this state to address these issues because these issues really

affect everybody. As a lifelong resident of New Mexico, it's really become a challenge to accept

things the way that they are right now. There has to be a better way. There has to be something

else besides what we're dealing with as it pertains to the justice system. Amanda and I spent some time talking

about some of the things that we think can definitely help make some changes in New Mexico.
