Five months in a broken world.

A month ago I woke up and noticed I was back in a reality that I thought I lost forever.

Either I had a very intense dream, or I was in a parallel universe for five months and have now shifted back.

And the thing that shifted me back dying in the other reality.

At first there wasn't any difference in the realities. It wasn't until I noticed the little

inconsistencies. And as the memories of that other life are still fresh in my mind, I can tell you about when it started, although I can't tell you when it actually started.

The first day I noticed a change. I had woken up to what I felt was a normal day. A few hours into the day my mother brings up

COVID. She starts saying how she wishes she could go back to when we could go out and order

actual good food. I ask her why not? I'll just go out to the car and

grab something for lunch. She laughs and tells me that she'd love that. So I go to

grab my keys and I head out.

She follows me and asks me what the hell I'm doing as I'm starting up the car.

That's when I noticed the first inconsistency.

My gas meter was almost empty. I just filled it up the day before. Now it was at an

eighth of a tank. My mother is yelling at me to get back inside. I'm baffled, but I go back in the house. Back inside, I talk

slash argue with my mother, and so she brings up COVID once more. She talks about how outside I could

get it any second, and that I know the the

lethalness of it. I'm dumbstruck. We live in a rural area. I never knew my mother

to get this series about COVID before, so I decided to go online and see if I missed any news.

What I discovered terrified me.

COVID had apparently killed over 1 billion people so far.
