On this episode, I'm going to be talking about the arrest of Barry Morfew for the murder of his wife, Suzanne

Morfew. On May 10, 2020, Suzanne Morfew, a 49-year-old mother of two, disappeared from her home

in Maysville, Colorado on Mother's Day. Her husband of over 20 years,

Barry Morfew, told authorities that Suzanne had gone out for a bike ride and never came back.

Her bike was later found in a ravine near County Road 225, but there were no signs of Suzanne.

From the start, investigators were suspicious.

Suzanne's phone was found crushed, and her helmet was located days later in a different location,

leaving investigators to believe that the scene had been staged.

Soon, investigators discovered a dark underside to the seemingly happy Morfew marriage.

Suzanne had been having an affair, a two-year affair, with an old high school friend, the two exchanged messages,

and even planned to meet. Her final known communication came on the morning of her disappearance,

a text to Barry saying, I'm done. Let's handle this civilly. Barry's phone record showed inconsistencies in his story,

and he had turned his phone to airplane mode for a period of time on the day Suzanne vanished.

Authorities also found evidence Barry had been acting jealous and controlling, and Suzanne had been keeping notes on her phone and ICloud describing a fearful marriage.

In 2021, investigators found a syringe cap near the Morphew residents, leading them to question Barry's use of a wildlife

tranquilizer, known as Bam, or BAM, which stands for butorphinol, a zaparone, and metatomedean, commonly used by hunters.

Barry was a licensed landscaper and had done deer removal, but he was the only person in the

area known to possess BAM legally.

In May of 2021, Barry Morfew was arrested and charged with first-degree murder,

tampering with a deceased human body, tampering with physical evidence, and attempting to

influence a public servant. Prosecutors painted Barry as a jealous husband who killed Suzanne when she tried to leave.
