So currently it's a bad time to be of running back in the NFL in 2023. Yesterday really drove

that home with three really prominent running backs in the league, having to settle for the

franchise tag of $10.1 million that they're going to play on in 2023. Tony Pollard and Dallas

Sequan Barclay for the New York Giants and Josh Jacobs with the Las Vegas Raiders. None of

them could come to a long term deal before the deadline expired yesterday. And and Jacobs

led the league in rushing. And Sequan Barclay, I believe, was number three and we know how important

he was. Yep. To the giant success last season. Sure, Daniel Jones was better and they brought

him Brian Dable, but Barclay won them a bunch of games. And other running backs are sounding

off about what's happening with running back contracts. We have quotes from both Austin Eccler

and Derek Henry. Austin Eccler said, this is the kind of trash that is artificially devalued

one of the most important positions in the game. Everyone knows it's tough to win without a top

RB yet they act like we are discardable widgets. I support any RB doing whatever it takes

to get his bag. And before we get to the Derek Henry quotes, Austin Eccler, his

average annual value that he's playing on right now of his contract is $6.1 million. Okay,

that's a decent amount of money. But back there in that he caught a hundred seven balls last year

and you look at what some wide receivers that are making more than him. I'm going to just

rattle off three names. Russell Gage. Okay, very nondescript wide out. We've got a nice deal. He's

making $10 million per season. Juju Smith Schuster. Nice player, but not a superstar. He's making

$8.5 million per season. And Adam Thieland, who was discarded and now is in Carolina,

is making $8.3 million. Ecclipsing what Austin Eccler may be a top to where the running back

in the league is making. So I understand him being upset. He's not getting paid commensurate

to his talent. He's not just applauding running back. He's going out and getting three and a half
