You know, when it comes to relationships, things move pretty fast in Washington, D.C.

In a quick series of phone calls yesterday, President Joe Biden left negotiations with Senator

Shelly Moore Capita from West Virginia and started them up with the Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy.

As you might imagine, the call ending things with the senator from West Virginia was pretty quick,

less than five minutes.

But according to a statement, Biden emphasized they would remain friends and noted his gratitude

for her efforts and good faith conversations, despite disappointment that they didn't have the same

goals. Capito told Fox News after the call, the relationship began with a massive miscommunication

that they never overcame.

I just feel like we've missed a real opportunity here for at least 20 Republicans to join with the

other Democrats to pass the most robust infrastructure package that we could have.

And I'm still very dedicated to it and we'll be working through my committees to see that we

at least get the legislation to back this up.

But Biden's call with Senator Cassidy was longer and filled with the heightened expectations

of a new burgeoning relationship.

Biden liked the sound of some $500 billion in new spending.

And Cassidy mentioned that the way to his heart is flood resiliency and energy
