His death was the result of an assassination,

committed 25 hours earlier. Welcome to today in True Crime, a parcast original. Today we're covering the

death of Robert Bobby Kennedy.

The younger brother of former President John F. Kennedy,

Bobby was a presidential hopeful himself,

but in a striking tragedy.

He met the same fate as his brother.

Let's go back to the Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles on June 6, 1968, at 144 AM.

Bobby Kennedy's loved ones huddled around the hospital bed waiting for the

inevitable. The past 25 hours had been filled with every emotion possible, hope, fear, anxiety, and now grief.

The night before, Bobby Kennedy celebrated his victory in the California primary at the

Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles. With the Democratic National Convention only a

couple of months away, the win was a major boost to

Bobby Kennedy's presidential campaign. Though it was far from a lock, the

nomination was his for the taking.

After celebrating his victory in the embassy ballroom of the hotel,

he left the stage at around 12.15 a.m.

on June 5th.

He concluded his speech by saying,

I think we can end the divisions within the United States,
