Hello and welcome to today's independent travel podcast with me, Simon Calder.

It's Wednesday the 11th of June.

Lisbon has blossomed to become one of the top city destinations in Europe.

But I'm on something of a personal campaign to persuade more people to add a day or two to their trip

to visit one of my favourite Portuguese

locations, Kaskaj, the port, planted elegantly on the shoreline west of Lisbon on what's

known as the Portuguese Riviera. Kaskaj was settled in turn by Romans, Visigoths and Moors and today, central of town is an interesting combination of sun-worn houses, cafes, shops and smart hotels, including the Farol, whose sales director is Theresa Saramago.

Kaskais has been placed as a destination who has a lot to offer.

It's the Portuguese Riviera, as you mentioned, as well.

Being close to Lisbon, it's also an advantage.

But my God, the nature, the spaces, the hotel, the service,

all the areas totally embraced by the Atlantic Ocean,

they keep shining all year around,

and so that's why we are becoming more and more in the map.

It's actually very easy to get to Casca.

So easy, my God.

So it's really the airport in Lisbon has a distance around 35 minutes driving time.

You also can plan the trip with using public transportation.

There is a great train connecting Caes du Sudreya train station in downtown that is going directly

to Kashaysh. And it's a beautiful ride along the Tagu's River, all the seaside, and it takes

around 40 minutes maximum.
