The ignorance about addiction on this station and other places is just absolutely ridiculous.

People are saying, oh, you know, if you have an addiction, you just go and decide not to do it.

And then to that I would say, okay, and then I don't believe that alcoholism or drug addiction is a disease.

Well, okay, it's not genetic.

Okay, it is absolutely genetic. People say pancreatitis not genetic. Okay. It is absolutely genetic.

People say pancreatitis is genetic.

Your ability, your chances of getting cancer are genetic.

I mean, look no further.

I don't know if it's the way, the way you're born,

or the environment you grew up in, but people are prone to addiction, more than other people than others.

So get yourself out of your ivory tower for a second and think that you actually have a job like construction or you have to do something and you end up hurting yourself.

And then the doctor puts you on opiates which is the only

way that you can deal with pain then you have to withdraw from these opiates and some people that's

very difficult to do this isn't about tiger woods this is about complete and utter

ignorance about the facts of addiction.

Then I heard, oh, well, I don't, you know, I don't believe that AA, you know, they say it's a,

that it's a disease and, you know, people should just stop.

Well, why do you think they're in AA?

They're not, they're not in AA to keep doing drugs. They're in AA to stop doing drugs.

You understand that the, you see, you've never done that. You've never had that.

You've never been in that position.
