Welcome to Searchlight, a survey through Scripture with Pastor John Corson.

It is our desire to bring you a systematic study of the entire Bible, chapter by chapter, book by book.

It seems that life is so complicated.

Everything we are involved with seems to have nuances and layers

and intricacies and is hard to figure out. But being a Christian doesn't have to be this way. It can

actually be very simple. To find out how this works, let's now join Pastor John for our study in

Romans chapter 4.

We seem to have a terrible tendency to overcomplicate spirituality.

Jesus knew about this, and so he shared with us there in Matthews Gospel that we must become as little children

if we want to enter into the kingdom. That doesn't mean that we're to be childish, but it does

mean that we're to be childlike.

Spirituality is to be childlike in its simplicity.

We tend to overcomplicate it, though, quite regularly.

Now, in the book of Romans, Paul the Apostle is shockingly simple when he shares with us that our salvation is based not upon some esoteric understanding or something that we should be doing.

But salvation is a free gift that is not based upon your behaving but just believing. Not based upon your trying but just trusting.
