Last Thursday, 24-year-old Louise Gustavo Arroyo Lopez was in the Sonoma County Court for his sentencing hearing

after pleading guilty last month to the murder of his grandmother, 64-year-old

Elvia Oroyo Lopez. Now back on November 2nd, 2023, Santa Rosa police officers responded to a home on the 2,500 block of Pomo Trail for a report of a possible homicide.

Upon arrival, they would locate the headless body of a woman who was later

identified as Elvia. But our head was missing from the scene which left

investigators perplexed. Who would murder this woman and why would they take her head?

Eventually, they would learn that her grandson,

Louise, had just been released from state prison

days before the murder occurred.

Now, looking into his prison stint and his background

investigators learned that Luis had been serving time for charges including

assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful weapons possession. On the day that the murder occurred, Luis was scheduled to check in with

his probation officer, but as you might imagine, yeah, he didn't do that. Very early on into the investigation, the Santa Rosa Police Department issued an alert to the public to be on the lookout for Louise as he was possibly armed and extremely dangerous. But just two days after the murder occurred, Luis was found and captured at the Trans Bay Transit Station in San Francisco.
