Right now, the ludicrous situation is that if I fly from Malaga to Manchester,

because I'm lucky enough to have been double vaccinated by the NHS,

I just stroll off the plane and do what I

like when I arrive in the UK. The person sitting next to me who might have had exactly the same

jabs on exactly the same day has to quarantine, go and sit in a well-ventilated room for 10

days. Of course, it's absolute nonsense and the government is now

from 4 a.m. on Thursday, Wednesday morning, the 2nd of August, putting things right. What will

be the effect? Well, the main one is actually going to be to allow families to reconnect. There's an awful lot of reasons

why, for example, people in France or, oh, back to France in a moment, in Germany or Spain or

Italy, with loved ones here, would want to come to the UK to see them, but cannot afford the time to quarantine.
