Hello, it's Wednesday the 28th of July and thanks for joining me for the latest on travel and destinations from the Green List and the travel desk of the Independent.

Today, six months on, the UK may finally give quarantine avoidance to people vaccinated in other countries.

The passport checker is back online and it's just about working.

And the worst job in travel public relations is up for grabs.

discuss whether or not to allow people who have been vaccinated abroad to evade quarantine in the same way that

you or I, if we've been lucky enough to be vaccinated by the NHS, are able to do.

Now, it's six months since foreign countries in the European Union, notably Estonia and Romania, said, oh, yeah,

the UK, you're doing really well with your jabs. We're going to let you in without testing or

quarantine because we're very, very enamoured of your low risk status due to having been vaccinated, which is very nice.

It's taken about five months for the government finally to say, actually, if you've been vaccinated

in the UK, then we would like to take advantage of that as well.

So we'll let you avoid quarantine.

The final leap is to accept that other people's countries have possibly vaccines which are just as good as ours. And that is now

happening. The UK had said, we're not interested at all. We're going to write off the summer of tourism

because we're simply not prepared to open up the UK to people who've been vaccinated in

the European Union or the United States. Those are our top locations for inbound holiday

makers vaccinated or not. Finally, it appears a little bit late on

that that may be changing because ministers are saying, yes, we think there is a place for people

who've been vaccinated to be able to come to the UK, even if they haven't had NHS jabs.

Still no news about how it will work.
