Summary

For many of us who grew up in the the 90s, Julia Stiles was an integral part of our coming of age. Her portrayal of the clever, acerbic Kat in 10 Things I Hate About You was a radical reinvention of the blonde teenage female rom-com lead. Her roles in Save The Last Dance and Mona Lisa Smile spoke to our adolescent feminist awakenings and catapulted Stiles to stardom. And, just like the heroines she played, Stiles chose to do things a bit differently. At the height of her teenage fame, she went to study English at Columbia University, continuing to act throughout her degree, most notably in the first of four Jason Bourne films. Her latest project is her directorial debut - the feature film, Wish You Were Here, which Stiles also produced and co-wrote. As a mother of three, Stiles said that her parenting informed her ability to direct. Wish You Were Here is available now to rent or own on digital platforms. Grief, how to stop caring what everyone thinks and discussing the most difficult times in their lives - Elizabeth and Julia answer YOUR questions in our subscriber series, Failing with Friends. Summer is coming and I am so excited to start planning some sunny getaways. I've been lucky

0:27.7

enough to stay in some incredible places over the years and one that really stands out was

0:32.8

in Taramina in Italy. We stayed in an Airbnb apartment that had the best view in the city because it was

0:39.6

overlooking the Sicilian coast. So every evening, I enjoyed a glass of wine on the balcony,

0:45.1

soaking up the last of the sunshine and taking in the views. I felt really reassured

0:50.2

booking this place because it was a guest favourite, which means it's one of the top

0:54.4

rated homes on Airbnb with amazing reviews. Inside the home had a classy art deco interior

1:01.1

with an open plan kitchen diner. And this is something I really love about staying in an Airbnb,

1:06.7

having your own space to cook and a kitchen table to gather around instead of being limited to

1:11.8

room service in a hotel. I'm so looking forward to booking another trip with Airbnb this summer,

1:17.3

hopefully also in Italy.

Hello and welcome to How to Fail.

This is the podcast where every week I ask a new guest about three times they think they've failed in their life and what, if anything, they learn along the way.

1:42.9

Food and all that stuff was so stressful.

1:47.8

It was always, I just couldn't help but have a disordered relationship with it all.

I dance all the time in my house, in my living room.

You know, I'll even dance on the sidewalk.
