There are two things about living in Santa Barbara, California, that I just love.

One is that we live really close to the actual wilderness, so there are actual wild

animals all around us. And the second thing is,

up in the hills, there's a beautiful little Vedanta temple whose residents are all nuns.

In fact, this was the first place in America that women took their final Hindu monastic vows.
