PARK CITY, Utah -- A Utah woman who authorities say fatally poisoned her husband, then published a children’s book about coping with grief, will appear in court Wednesday for a hearing that will determine whether state prosecutors have enough evidence against her to proceed with a trial. Kouri Richins, 33, faces several felony charges for allegedly killing her husband with a lethal dose of fentanyl in March 2022 at their home in a small mountain town near Park City. Prosecutors say she slipped five times the lethal dose of the synthetic opioid into a Moscow mule cocktail that Eric Richins, 39, drank.

0:14.8	I'm your host, retired NYPD Sergeant Bill Cannon, a 27-year veteran of the NYPD. You know, yesterday, folks,
0:24.7	Corey Richens, who you see on the, on your screen right now, appeared in court for almost
0:30.2	like a preliminary preliminary hearing because the preliminary hearing is supposed to be held
0:35.4	today. And in that hearing, there was only about 10 minutes long.
0:43.2	Some information was giving that the judge wanted to have the divorce attorney turn over certain evidence, whether that in fact is going to occur.
0:58.0	We are not sure that it will hopefully be decided.
1:00.8	And some witnesses will be at the preliminary hearing today.
1:07.8	And the judge will decide whether or not there is enough evidence to go forward in this case.
1:16.7	And we all know this is Eric Richens, who Corey Richens is accused of killing.
1:28.6	And then, of course, she wrote this book, Are You With Me,
1:33.9	in order for her children to deal with the grief they had from losing a parent.
1:42.1	She allegedly poisoned her husband, Eric, putting fentanyl in a drink called a Moscow mule.
1:53.6	She's been in jail for a year awaiting potential trial.
1:58.5	And today's hearing should determine whether or not there is enough evidence to proceed
2:06.7	in a trial.
2:07.8	And we believe, of course, that there is.
2:13.8	You know, back in 2022, friends and family expressed shock and disbelief when Corey Richens was arrested in connection with the death of her husband Eric at their home in Commerce, Utah, in 2022.
2:31.2	I was shocked, said her mother, remembering when she heard the news.
2:34.4	She can't be arrested, Darden believed that Corey and Eric had a great relationship,
2:38.9	though there were questions and bumps in the road.
