Here we find ourselves basically in the midst of Advent,

which is most family's favorite season

because of the way in which it gradually builds us up to the celebration of Christmas.

Sometimes people blur the two as though they're the same.

I know we did that when we were first converting many, many years ago,

Kimberly and me.

And so then we discovered the whole Advent tradition

is penitential.

It's one of hope.

It's also one of joy, but it's mostly anticipating the joy of Christmas,

whereas Christmas is unmitigated joy and bliss.

So what I'd like to talk about today with you is how to finish up the preparation for making

the most of Advent.
