| 0:00.0 | Welcome to Enjoying the Journey with Evangelist Scott Pauli. |
| 0:13.0 | Today we are on a journey through Scripture. |
| 0:16.0 | We hope you'll join us as we make 66 stops through each book of the Word of God. |
| 0:34.4 | Hello, friends, we're journing through the Word of God together. I hope you're enjoying the journey. We've come now to a most interesting book in the Old Testament. We've come to the book of numbers. And interestingly enough, of all of the books in Scripture, this book truly is the book of the journey. It covers for us the 40-year wanderings of the children of Israel |
| 0:56.2 | through the wilderness. So if ever there was a book that dealt with the travels of life, this is it, |
| 1:02.1 | the book of numbers. We know, of course, that Moses is the man that God uses to pin the first |
| 1:07.9 | five books of the Bible, Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. |
| 1:11.6 | And we believe that these books were recorded during the wilderness wanderings, which means |
| 1:17.8 | that Moses is writing from a first-hand account. And regardless of the circumstances, we're |
| 1:23.1 | certain of this, that he was led of the Holy Spirit. He's writing under inspiration. Now, from the |
| 1:29.2 | exodus out of Egypt to the time the tabernacle was erected was about one year. And then, |
| 1:35.3 | from the time the tabernacle was constructed, through the book of Leviticus, covers the first |
| 1:40.9 | month of the second year of their journey. When you come to Numbers chapter 1, verse 1, you read these words, |
| 1:47.3 | and the Lord spake into Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, |
| 1:51.5 | in the tabernacle of the congregation, on the first day of the second month |
| 1:56.1 | in the second year after they were come out of the land of Egypt. |
| 1:59.4 | So we know exactly where this book fits. |
| 2:02.6 | Numbers begins with the second month of the second year and then progressively unveils for us |
| 2:09.0 | the history of their wilderness wanderings. Now in a very real sense, all of these books are |
| 2:14.5 | historical books. You know, I love history. I hope you do. There's so much to learn from it. |
| 2:20.6 | Someone facetiously said years ago, the one thing we learned from history is that no one learns from history. |
| 2:25.6 | And I think there's a great deal of truth in that. But history, I believe aptly is his story. |
