0:44.1	Not long ago, I spoke in a men's conference. It was a wonderful meeting, several hundred men. We had a great time together, a fellowship, great time in God's word. But every message
0:50.1	that I brought to them in that men's conference, I brought to them from the little book of
0:53.9	Third John. And it's the shortest book, the shortest book in the New Testament. It only has
1:00.1	299 words. If you have your Bible open, you'll notice that it's only 14 verses long, and yet
1:06.4	it is packed full of truth. And it's packed full of truth that I think is especially pertinent to men.
1:12.5	Now, stay with me for just a moment because there are many ladies listening right now.
1:16.3	You remember that 2nd John was written to a lady and her children.
1:20.6	Well, now 3rd John is written to a man by the name of Gaeus and to those that he's leading and influencing. And I want to
1:27.9	point out to you that these two brief letters share a common theme. And I want to say to you
1:34.3	that truth does not vary from men to women, from person to person, because truth is truth.
1:42.5	It's rooted in an unchanging god the only thing that's different
1:46.8	is the application of that truth and so i love to read and study second john alongside third john
1:53.8	the reason i believe third john has so much to say to men is that there are three main characters
1:59.9	in third john and they're all men and they all have a message for us.
2:04.1	Now, John, once again, identified as the elder, is the one writing.
2:08.4	Third John, verse one, says the elder, under the well-beloved gaius, whom I love in the truth.
2:14.2	And then he says this, Beloved, I wish above all things that thou may as prosper and be in
2:18.5	health even as thy soul prospereth. That's quite a prayer. That's not a health and wealth gospel.
