Hello and welcome to the scriptures are real.

This is the podcast where we talk about elements or aspects of the scriptures that have made them become more real to us because we believe there's great power in the scriptures and we can draw that power out

better when they are real and applicable to us and we need that power. I'm your host, Kerry Mielstein,

and with me is my good friend and colleague Josh Sears, who has been, I knew Josh back when he was

a student here at BYU and have followed his career with great interest since then. And he,

I don't know, it's like four years now or something you've been hired here in ancient

scripture. Yeah, four years. Yeah. And we carpool together sometimes and all sorts of other

stuff. But I'll also just say, I can't think of anyone who in that amount

of time I have stolen more ideas from in the classroom. Josh has so many ideas of how to present

this and how to help students with this. And most of those ideas really are about how to help students,

help students who are struggling, help students who have this issue or that issue,

a ways to present it to those students.

He's a gifted and a very, very thoughtful teacher, which also tells you how he's a gifted and thoughtful person, husband, father.

I've seen him in all of those roles.

And so I'm just so glad to have you with us, Josh.

Thank you. I'm glad to be here tell us a little about yourself Josh I grew up in California we're in Chile it's Ventura it's

north of Los Angeles yeah yeah I lived in L.A and served in Riverside so I know Ventura so yeah yeah

it's a great place yeah and. And then after my mission to

Chile, I met my wife. She is from Hong Kong and we got married in the Hong Kong Temple. And then

we've gone around different to graduate school and everything, having a couple kids at each spot.

Now we're back here with our five kids in Linden and having their great time being back at
