Summary

In episode 318 therapist Jonny Say interviews Stuart about his OCD research. Stuart's research used data from the University of Roehampton's ETHOS project.

We discuss the motivation for this research, what is humanistic counselling, the research and what was found, what humanistic (and person-centred) counselling can learn from CBT, and what CBT can learn from humanistic counselling, hopes for the research, and much more. Hope it helps.

The O. C. D. Stories is a podcast dedicated to raising awareness and understanding

around obsessive compulsive symptoms. I do this for interviewing inspired therapists,

psychologists and people who have experienced OCD. Welcome to the OCD stories.

And welcome to episode of 318 of the podcast. So this one is a little different.

So my friend and colleague Johnny Say, who is also a therapist, interviewed me on the show show and Johnny interviews me about my master's

0:35.2

thesis which recently got published and the reason I am denied about doing an episode on this because because it's not necessarily groundbreaking research, but I feel

podcast over the last year and a bit and into the future where I've transitioned a bit from just covering for example

1:36.2

E.R.P. and Act sometimes to covering more other therapies too.

1:42.1

And as I always say in those episodes, it's never to convince anyone to go towards those therapies. It's just to shed more light on other ideas that you can integrate into the therapy you already do if that's ARP for example but also to

1:56.1

inspire therapists researchers and others and people with OCD that maybe sometimes a

2:02.2

combination is going to work best for them because it's not just

2:04.8

O. C. D. There's also many factors that go on in someone's life. So that's why I've kind of

2:09.7

broadened the podcast a bit and that's obviously my training is
