Donnie, glad to be here. How you doing, fell? Good, man, good. You know, I want to delve deep into your past first to start out. You know, there's a couple of little-known facts that the audience does not know. First off, your first writing gig, we're talking about your writing history of the Daily News and at AP.

You wrote a He-Man book at six years old and you illustrated it?

I mean, you talk to me a little bit about that.

What was going on with that at six years old?

Well, it's still considered by many to be my finest work.

Yes, yes.

I early on was drawn to writing.

I could read in early age.

I liked writing.

The illustrations were rather subpar.

My mom is also fond of telling the story,

and I've always been a big sports fan

about how as a kid, five, six, somewhere in there,

I would take my stuffed animals and not just pretend,

not just play pretend baseball games with them, but then afterwards write up a recap of the

pretend baseball game in a pretend newspaper.

And there was a puppet frog named Fred and I had a Garfield cat who were the stars of the team.
