of lounging ahead of you, we have something a little different for today's episode. Longtime

listeners know that one of my dear friends across the pond is a gent named Jonathan Friedland,

tremendous journalistic talent, superb and supple mind, and sparkling conversationalist who I first met

more than 30 years ago

when he was a pup reporter in D.C. for The Guardian and I was the same for the economist. In the

time since then, Johnny has risen to great heights at The Guardian, where he now serves as a

must-read award-winning columnist, and also turned into a kick-ass podcast host of not just one but two

terrific shows,

Politics Weekly America for The Guardian, and Unholy, which he co-hosts with an Israeli journalist

and show that explores the intersection of Judaism and our politics and culture.

And as if that weren't enough, Johnny Friedland also is the author of 11, count them 11 books.

Nine of those books are thrillers written under the pen name Sam Bourne.

And then there are the other two.
