and making what they call the original Californication, not the TV show with the video.

You guys did that.

My guest, Jonathan Dayton Valley Fair, have done only three films in this century,

but those films include Little Miss Sunshine, Ruby Sparks, the newest film Battle of the Sexist

And we're just talking about a bunch of stuff that made me want to get to the thing I like about your work, which is it's all about detail.

I mean, even going back to the videos, they all, this ambience of making everything feel lived in and and

you always get a sense of and there's almost always in your film a kitchen which is where life takes

right i mean that's that's that's kind of central yeah and i wonder if that's something that

really that conceptually make these films feel like people live in them

is the way you pick scripts because you don't pick a lot of them.

No.

No, it's sort of a high threshold.

You know, that's a very interesting observation.

And I think maybe it stems a little bit from the fact that we are married and we share a life together and children.

And we live a lot of our time in our kitchen.
