Once upon a time, a long time ago,

there was a big boy named Jonah Moon. One day, with the help of his friend and neighbor, Bo,

he realized that some dandelions work better than other dandelions for making wishes.

He hypothesized that in the same way that gardeners and farmers propagate from plants that have desirable characteristics

like good taste, large fruit, and resistance to pests and disease, he could identify which dandelions

were best for making wishes and create a garden patch using the seeds of only those most magical dandelions.

After a few false starts, Jonah, Moon, and Bo had gathered about 40 seeds from dandelions

that their experiment showed were extra magical. Their next step was to prepare the garden bed. For this, Jonah and Boe chose an

unused garden bed in Jonah Moon's yard, removed all the weeds, added some freshly composted soil

for nutrients, thoroughly watered the garden bed, and, using tweezers to remove the dandelion seeds from the packing tape that they had used to collect them, planted the seeds about six to nine inches apart in straight rows that were about 12 inches apart.
