Hello and welcome to the Sophie Ridge on Sunday podcast, with Labour saying that they plan to tear up a rigged system and shift power and investment away from London,

I travelled to Doncaster to speak to Labour's John Tricket.

And I also spoke to two female MPs about what it's like being a woman in Westminster. When I started the show in January last year, I had one big goal, to get out of London, to listen to different people's views and then put their worries and concerns to the politicians that I get to speak to.

And nearly 18 months on, that hasn't changed.

It often feels like London is a different country to other parts of Britain,

with power and very often wealth concentrated in the south-east.

And Labour now wants to do something about that.

So I travelled to Doncaster and South Yorkshire

to speak to Shadow Cabinet Office Minister, John Trickett, about his party's plans.

I think the whole national conversation, which goes on in the media is based on a London

bubble and it doesn't really reflect life outside of London. And there's a big problem there

because if people are feeling unhappy or discontented that their voice isn't heard and they have no choice of what

happens to them, then people come disgruntled, unhappy, uneasy.

And that is my feeling about the state of England today.
