House Speaker Mike Johnson says a vote on President Donald Trump's so-called big beautiful

bill will happen soon.

We plan to do it tonight if possible.

That's my plan, so stay tuned.

That's despite the fact that it still hasn't made it out of the House Rules Committee,

which has been debating the package since 1 a.m.

And GOP leaders are still working on final changes to the bill that are designed to win over Republican holdouts.

Johnson says those are also coming soon.

Yeah, I think we'll be ready. We're going to put it on the floor and I think we'll have the votes.

It's not clear if that's true though.

And with all Democrats against the bill, Johnson can only afford to lose two more GOP votes

because at least one Republican representative says he's going to oppose it.

The sticking points still appear to be Medicaid and other cuts to federal spending, along

with state and local tax deductions.

And the Congressional Budget Office found in its preliminary reading, the bill in its current

form could add $3.8 trillion to the deficit between 2026 and 2034.
