Summary

John Stirk, author of Deeper Still, talks with J about the non-material aspects of yoga and the importance of noticing. They discuss the influences of R.D.Laing, J. Krishnamurti, and Vanda Scaravelli, sensation and awareness, touching the inner void, the value of not knowing, making a contribution to the field of shared energy, that which lays beyond fear and expresses our capacity for love, understanding nothing in particular, unconditioned sources of wisdom, calcification of the soul, coming gently to a halt, and trusting in our own experience.

Thanks for tuning in. If you're new, welcome. Everyone else, what's up? Do you do the new year's resolution thing i usually do not i

at the beginning of the year or whatever it is. I like to think of paying attention to my

1:05.6

behavioral patterns and seeing where I can make adjustments to them tweaking the formula of my

1:15.4

actions and attitudes. I like to consider that a year-round effort, needing daily reassessments.

1:28.3

However, this year I actually do have a resolution,

1:34.4

and it's not something that I tried to come up with

1:38.8

or really intended to have.

1:41.9

It happened of its own, And it was an interesting revelation and is relevant to a lot of

1:53.5

the conversations I've had here on the show around receiving guidance. I talk about going inside and making yourself quiet and hearing a voice

2:06.3

of knowing from within. Maybe you've heard something like that before. That's very common in yoga

2:13.0

circles, that idea that we could do that. And I've then talked about how sometimes

2:19.2

when you're able to hear that voice,

2:23.3

you can also get messages.

2:28.8

And I think that when I have spoken about that

2:31.8

or when it's been discussed here on the show,

2:35.4

it's made out to seem like it's a very contemplative, meditative thing
