| 0:05.3 | Let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for. |

| 0:14.2 | Now we had a couple of meditations on themes from John Paul in July. |
| 0:20.8 | Today, a totally different meditation. |
| 0:23.6 | But one that I think is very relevant because no one escapes suffering. |
| 0:32.6 | One time, after concelebrating Mass with the Holy Father in his private chapel, a priest from Michigan had a brief opportunity to meet the Pope. |
| 0:46.3 | Now that priest had a broken leg and stood on crutches as John Paul approached him in the receiving line. |
| 0:53.3 | And he said to the Pope with a twinge of humor and self-pity, |
| 0:58.1 | I broke my leg. Can I please have your blessing? |

| 1:03.8 | Don't waste your suffering. |
| 1:07.4 | And then the Holy Father raised his hand, blessed the priest, |
