He teaches at Columbia and writes for the New York Times. That's Columbia University.

Recently in the news, John, because of an agreement, I wonder what you think about that. I used to teach at Brown University. I'm emeritus professor. Now, in fact,

I approached the first semester that I will not have been teaching fall class, not counting

sabbaticals, for almost a half century, John.

Anyway, I teach at emeritus status at Brown University,

and I'm a distinguished visiting fellow at the Hoover Institution.

John, what's up, man?

I know we have to talk about this Columbia question.

Not if you don't want you.

No, I can, luckily, I feel like I'm in a position where I can talk about it.

I'm honestly not sure.

And this is the one place I'm going to discuss it because I've been on sabbatical all year.

It's not like I've been in faculty lounges, whatever those are, talking about these things.

I know what I read in the paper.

But to be honest, a lot of the things that the administration was asking for are not insane.

And my feeling has been that the idea was that the administration was so hell-bent on doing these sorts of things that they figured they would threaten something as draconian

as funding for science as a way to really light a bomb under people. And you know what this

reminds me of, Glenn, actually? And this is a while ago now. but way back when I was teaching at Berkeley and racial

preferences, and I'm not only talking about race now, but racial preferences were discontinued
