And of course, word came down last night that the word legendary doesn't even go far enough.

Vin Scully, who was the voice of the Dodgers for 67 years. You think about this.

This was the longest tenured broadcaster with a single team in pro sports history.

But he was more than that to the people that followed the Dodgers over the years

because he was their connection to the team through the radio or through the television.

He died last night at his home at Hidden Hills at the age of 94.

We have an opportunity now to talk to another Dodger legend. He's a

broadcaster with the team now. He was a player, part of the 1981 World Series champion Los Angeles

Dodgers, Rick Monday. Rick, welcome to the show. Ken, good afternoon. Last night was a difficult

night for those of us that knew Vin, but quite frankly,

I think anyone that ever listened to a Dodger broadcast was a friend of Vin's

or felt that Vinny was a friend of theirs.

I go way back growing up in Santa Monica.

When the Dodgers first came out, I was already

attracted to the game of baseball. I was fascinated by it, even as a kid. And growing up,

my mom, a single parent, as it too young to drive when we listened to the Dodger games,

Ben Scully and his broadcast partner, Jerry Doggett at the time,

were in the car.

And that's how I learned a lot more about baseball.

And I learned a whole lot about somebody that I think all of us,

and when I say all of us, I think millions and millions of people over the years,
