development in the story has brought it back we'll talk about it later on this hour we're going to

begin of course with a couple of things dealing with los angelesters. Thousands of L.A. renters are supposed

to pay back their back rent. The deadline is tomorrow for the first year and a half of the pandemic

where they could face eviction. On another front, the apartment association of Greater Los Angeles is asking a judge

to overturn a rent hike freeze, which is also pandemic-related and has been in place. It's not

scheduled to end until early. Next year, enough is enough. The pandemic is freaking over, despite what it says in the El Cigundo Times with all of their

hysteria over, and Barbara Ferrer.

Anyway, we're going to talk to Daniel Yulgelson, now executive director of the

apartment association about this legal move against the city.

Daniel, welcome.

Hey, guys. Thanks for having me on.

All right. So lay out, what are the specifics of this rent freeze ordinance?

Well, it's been in place nearly four years, and despite hyperinflation, and we had the CPI up near 8% and mortgage rates have nearly

doubled.

We had supply chain issues and labor shortages.

And the cost of being in the rental housing business has gone up, you know, two, three times

told what the CPI increase has been.
