Actually, Dr. Fauci was not a big proponent of wearing masks.

Not the very beginning of the pandemic,

but as things got bigger and everyone was grasping for something they could do

to slow down the spread, masks became a symbol that you should wear them if you care about yourself

and your fellow man.

And that was the big message, remember, that you have to care about other people because it's about you spreading the virus to them.

It went from some kind of protection in a medical situation to some kind of religious political statement.

Right. And people would wear them the way idiot Hollywood celebrities would

wear stupid ribbons when they appeared on award shows. Remember supporting one dopey cause or another.

And that's what it was. It was a signal. And it was also something for all the all the phobics

in the world. And I still see a lot of those in my grocery

store, these, these germ phobics. I do too. And I had a weird moment, what day was and where was I?
