director of the Dow Journalism Program here at Hillsdale College, about the return of the partisan

press. Robbie Suave from Reason.com and his new book, Panic Attack, Young Radicals in the Age of Trump.

Barbara Bushy from Hillsdale's Art Department will join us to talk about American Gothic.

But first, we're joined now by John J. Miller, director of the Herbert H. Dow, the second program in American journalism here at Hillsdale College.

John, thanks for joining us. Hi, Scott. Thanks for having me on the show.

I wanted to bring you in to talk about the partisan press and not just about present day,

people might consider partisan press, but kind of the history and where it began because

we haven't always looked for objectivity in the press through the year. So let's start with

that. I mean, concerns about

partisan press are nothing new. We go back years and in some cases, decades even. Where have we

heard complaints like this in the past? So it sounds like you think there's media bias right now,

Scott. It's possible. Now, Andrew Claven, who's been on this show, has a funny line on his

podcast. He'll sometimes say, the mainstream media and the Democratic Party, but I repeat myself,

right? So we hear that a lot, concerns about media bias, particularly liberal media bias in the

press today. But as you say, these are age-old complaints.

And I think we are seeing more partisanship than we have had recently in the press.
