Thanks for listening. This is an incredibly special day for me. Our guest is John Grisham.

I almost feel silly giving a proper introduction, but as a professional I will one of the most

successful authors of all time certainly of our time and an important writer

to who clearly has a mission about and a purpose about justice in its many different in the many

different ways you could define it. I got to know John a little bit because I've worked

adapting one of his novels into a movie along with my partner

David Levine and that was runaway jury and we we almost got a TV series to screen

together the street lawyer which is still among my regrets that it didn't somehow.

I have some biographical questions and and you haven't done many of these podcasts so I think it's a real opportunity for people to hear so about you that they haven't before.

But I want to start now and having just read your new book, The Whistler, and loved it.

How would you define your mission now?

Like I read a quote of yours that mentioned

the Graham Green distinction.

You know, some books being entertainments

and some being more important.

But other than a select few books of yours, your point of view about power,

influencing like the corrosive nature of unearned wealth comes through very clearly.
