Today we sit down with author, research professor, and executive director of the Clemson Institute for the Study of Capitalism, Dr. C. Bradley Thompson.

His new Prager U. video is titled John Adams, founder and second president, where he examines the life of the founding father and second U.S. president that Thomas Jefferson referred to as are colossus on the floor.

Some say John Adams' rousing speech to the Continental Congress on July 1, 1776

is what finalized the founding father's decision for American independence.

So my biggest reaction to your video after watching it was feeling like I've been under-appreciating John Adams this whole time.

In the video you shared a really great quote, Let's take a look at that real quick.

Fortune was never his aim. Creating a new, better, freer country than the world had ever known was all that he cared about. As one delegate to the Continental Congress said, the man to whom

the country is most indebted for the great measure of independence is Mr. John Adams.

So what was John Adams' unique contribution to the American Revolution?

I would say that if George Washington were the sword of the American Revolution and Thomas Jefferson the Penn,

I would say that John Adams was the engine of the

American Revolution. No founding father was as important in conveying the ideas of the American

Revolution as was John Adams. And I don't think any other revolutionary contributed as much politically to the
