It is our desire to bring you a systematic study of the entire Bible, chapter by chapter, book by book.

Here on Searchlight, we are studying through the book of John.

This is one of the great books of the Bible,

and we are now in one of the great chapters, John Chapter 8. In this chapter, there is so much

that we can learn of Jesus and what it means to follow him. So let's now join Pastor John and get

right to today's study. John chapter 8 beginning at verse 12.

Now for those of you that went shopping for diamonds today, you remember how when you were

shopping for those diamonds, the jeweler would show you the diamonds that you were looking at, a full carrot or a carrot and a half or two, or whatever you were considering purchasing.

And you remember how when the jeweler was showing you those gems, those diamonds, he would place those diamonds on a piece of black

velvet. The reason for placing those diamonds on black is, of course, the contrast that you might see the diamond's beauty.

The contrast, the diamond with the black velvet underneath, you could focus on the glory

and beauty of the diamond more clearly.

In our text, in this chapter, Jesus declares himself to be the light of the world.

And his beauty and radiance as the light of the world is seen all the more vividly, all
