This is sermon 42, because nothing beats a 42-week sermon series.

And we're a new church, we for just two and a half years old

but I thought what better thing to do with a whole year than to just look in

great detail at the life death burial and resurrection of Jesus to establish a firm

foundation for our future together. And today we are going to be talking about

the cross of Jesus. John's Gospel, it basically breaks into two portions

up to and through about chapter 12,

is all of Jesus' first 33-ish years from John 13 till the end is literally the final days the

last week culminating in the crucifixion of Jesus the entire storyline slows down for the most of the

use fiction of Jesus, the entire story line slows down for the most significant series of events,

the death barrel and resurrection of Jesus in the history of the world.

And as we get into the issue of the cross,

I don't want to assume that you fully understand what the cross means.

I did not as a kid. I was thinking about it this morning on the drive-in.
