As we study John's Gospel, we find ourselves in chapter 8, just going through the book over the course of about a year.

And in God's Providence, the timing is very, very interesting because this is Memorial Day weekend here in the states

which is where we celebrate and honor those who have given their lives so that we might have what?

Freedom, that is the American word, amen? Freedom, that is our

word. Freedom is powerful, it evokes strong imagery, and if you're an American you are pro-freedom.

Amen.

That's why whatever political party or candidate is running every year, freedom, freedom, freedom,

freedom, freedom, that is the constant refrain.

And we celebrate our freedoms on Memorial Day and if you miss it, we'll celebrate our freedoms

again on the 4th of July weekend.

These are holidays, supposed to mean holy days, where we set apart time to honor freedom.

Now what's curious in John Chapter 8 today, it's a holiday that they are celebrating

called the Feast of Booth. and it was a holiday dedicated to the celebration of freedom and it goes all the way back to the Old Testament God's people were slaves in a nation called Egypt, they were not free.

God freed them supernaturally, miraculously, a nation of a few million, and they got to go home to
